Alcohol a likely factor in moped crash in Appleton

Appleton police say alcohol was a factor in a serious crash involving a moped and truck Sunday evening. According to a news release, the moped rider crossed the center line and was side swiped by the truck on South Memorial Drive. 

The 34 year old Appleton man was thrown from the moped and transported to the hospital with serious and possibly life threatening injuries. The rider was cited by officers for OWI, Operating Left of Center and Operating without a License. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The driver and a passenger in the truck escaped injury.
