A major investment is coming to the Appleton International Airport.
Air Wisconsin announced on Tuesday that it will build a new, 30,000 square foot maintenance facility and expand their office space by about 7,000 square feet.
Airline leaders said that the $8 million expansion will add 80 local jobs in the Fox Cities.
Officials said that the new hangar will allow them to get their nightly aircraft under cover, which lets maintenance crews work on them before the early morning flights.
Airport leaders said that this investment is a positive sign for them and the surrounding communities.
"It's just growth for our airport, growth for our tenant, and it's great for our community as a whole," airport director Abe Weber said.
Airport officials also said Tuesday that as long as the community supports them, they'll continue to grow.
The expansion project from Air Wisconsin will begin shortly.
Officials said that they hope to break ground next month and then get the new hangar finished by the end of the year.
