Wisconsin Attorney General, Brad Schimel says the investigation into the officer involved shooting of Sylville K. Smith is ongoing. "We're investigating this case, we are searching for the truth." Schimel told reporters in a news conference.

Smith was killed by officers on August 13 after fleeing police. Schimel says the officers' body cameras show he was holding a gun and turned toward one of the officers when he was shot.

The ACLU and others have pressed the state to release that video as soon as possible. However, Schimel  will not, saying the release would compromise the integrity of the investigation.

The shooting death of Smith drew protests, some becoming violent, in the hours after the shooting at Sherman Park, a neighborhood on the north side of the city. A bank branch was damaged and gas station was set on fire. Several police cars were damaged in the incident.
