Smith was killed by officers on August 13 after fleeing police. Schimel says the officers' body cameras show he was holding a gun and turned toward one of the officers when he was shot.
The ACLU and others have pressed the state to release that video as soon as possible. However, Schimel will not, saying the release would compromise the integrity of the investigation.
"Our hope is that the Police chief will not release the video" @WisDOJ

Schimel says the officers involved in the incident and the the Smith family are talking with investigators.
"The family has been cooperative, we've had no difficulties with them except for they don't want to be in this situation" @WisDOJ
