HAYWARD, Wis. (AP) -- A third person has died in the floodwaters in northern Wisconsin.

The Ashland County Sheriff's Office says an 82-year-old man was found dead early Thursday in a pickup truck in the floodwaters of the Marengo River. Authorities say the truck was found in the water near the bridge over the river in the Town of White River.

The sheriff's department says Elmer Lippo was an elected supervisor for the Town of Marengo. Two others have died in northern Wisconsin flooding since severe weather washed out roads and caused other damage earlier this week.

Highway 2 between Ashland and Hurley remained closed as well as other roads in the region. In the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest, the Beaver Lake Campground near Mellen is closed due to flood damage.
