APPLETON, WI--- It's been a long 24 hours for the plows. The highways are much better and even the side streets are getting cleared. The Fox Valley received about a foot of snow and it's been quite the process to even get to this point.
“Would have been a little nicer to have only a couple of inches," says Jim Forster of Appleton.
“It's hard to get right down to the cement so that's why you got to scrape a little bit," says Dick Schmidt of Appleton.
The Outagamie County Highway Department was out early clearing highways, although there is plenty of work still to do.
Highway commissioner Dean Steingraber says their main concern is eliminating snow banks and scraping. More than 30 trucks are ready to go again Wednesday.
"We'll be going full force again tomorrow. One good thing is schools are out right now. That's been helpful for us."
Public works departments are asking people to not park on streets that have not been plowed yet. This will make the process go much faster.
