A student in the Fox Valley is collecting fishing gear to start a club.
Jack Cruz is an 8th grader at Fox River Academy.
He loves the outdoors and has been fishing since he could stand on a dock and hold a fishing rod.
Now as part of a school project, he is organizing a fishing club so other students can learn about fishing and enjoy the outdoors.
"Sometimes people get too worked up over school so they need something to escape from all that," said Cruz. "I think fishing would help out."
"Fishing is a puzzle. There's days it works and days it doesn't," said Eric Vander Loop, the teacher helping Jack organize the new club. "It starts to take in all those other things like weather, what's going on stream and the kids will have to figure that out. It's an adventure you can take on your own."
Jack is looking to collect new or used fishing rods, reels, lures, tackle boxes or anything you might need to hit the water.
