An 8-year-old child was killed while playing baseball Wednesday afternoon, the Manitowoc County Sheriff's Office says.
It happened in the Town of Mishicot around 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. Deputy Inspector Jason Orth said in a news release that it appears as if the child was unintentionally hit in the head by a baseball.
The victim was taken to Aurora Medical Center in Two Rivers, where they later died despite live-saving efforts from EMS.
No criminal activity is believed to be involved, Deputy Inspector Orth said.
The victim's name and cause of death will be released at a later time.
