5th graders hold Civil War reenactment in Ashwaubenon

Fifth graders at Valley View Elementary School in Ashwaubenon acted out history Friday as they held a Civil War reenactment.

The goal of the reenactment was to learn about the causes of the conflict.

Teachers said it was important to learn why the war was fought: to preserve the country and end slavery.

The reenactment included cannon firing and Civil War-era uniforms.
