The Forest County Sheriff's Department called in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to help them remove more than 40 animals from a property near Crandon. They include 30 wolf-dog hybrids and 14 horses.
Deputies say the animals didn't have proper access to food and water and had untreated medical conditions.
The president of the Forest County Humane Society says he's glad to have the ASPCA involved in the case.
"We couldn't be more thankful that such a professional, large national organization is coming in to help," said Jay Schaefer.
WJFW-TV, the NBC affiliate in Rhinelander, reports the owner was arrested elsewhere on drug related charges. The ASPCA says they expect animal cruelty charges to be filed soon.
