2 dead after small plane crash in Michigan's Upper Peninsula

ELY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -- Police say two people are dead following a small plane crash near a grassy runway in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.

State police say in a statement that the two-seat Aeronca 11AC with two people aboard crashed Monday night in Marquette County's Ely Township.

Names of the dead weren't immediately released. Police say the cause of the crash was listed as undetermined.

Police say the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board on Tuesday plan to be at the scene of the crash to investigate.
