GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -- The National Railroad Museum in Green Bay has reopened with several precautions in place to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Organizers say they have implemented several health and safety measures and also have significantly lowered the capacity of how many people can be in the museum at one time.
Planning a trip to the National Railroad Museum can also now include getting to see a 'Behind the Scenes' look at the archives at the museum. There are several artifacts that are hundreds of years old and have their own story to tell.
The Director of Education, Bob Lettenberger, says they have only offered this to a small private group in the past so they're excited to offer this limited opportunity to the public for the first time.
The tours will be limited to two days a week on Wednesday and Fridays and they will only consist of 10 people in each tour. There will be limitations on what guests can touch and they also ask you to wear closed-toed shoes on the tour. Guests will get to see items that you would never get to see on display. You will get to take a closer look in the restoration shop and you'll get to see how they operate at the museum.
