MANITOWOC (NBC 26) — Manitowoc Public School District (MPSD) is offering $5,000 sign-on bonuses for teacher positions and a $1,000 bonus for support staff positions.

The district is facing a tight labor market with a teacher shortage which has the district struggling to fill positions.

“We are proud of the benefits MPSD offers our employees and these sign-on bonuses are just an extra incentive to join our team,” Greenwood-Aerts said.

MPSD is looking to fill a dozen teaching positions for the 2022-2023 school year. The district is also looking to hire support staff positions such as instructional aides, special aides, special education aides, custodians and coaches.

Open interviews will be hosted on the following days at 2902 Lindbergh Drive in Manitowoc.

  • August 17 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
  • August 18 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • August 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Interested candidates can bring a resume and/or fill out an application on-site. Successful candidates will be hired on the spot pending reference and background checks.

The MPSD school year is scheduled to start on August 30.
