SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. — A Canadian man visiting Wisconsin on a golf trip was shot and killed overnight in downtown Sheboygan Falls, according to his family.

Giovanni Michael Robinson, who went by Mike, was killed in what police are calling “a critical incident” near Monroe and Water streets in the heart of the small downtown area. Robinson’s brother and sister-in-law confirmed his death and said he was a new father who had traveled to Wisconsin for a golf trip.

Family members are now traveling to Wisconsin seeking answers about what happened to their loved one.

“He’s a new father — here on a golf trip,” Robinson’s family said.

The Sheboygan Falls Police Department has remained tight-lipped about the investigation, posting only that a “critical incident” occurred overnight on its social media. Police have not confirmed whether a suspect is in custody or released details about what led to the shooting.

The incident has shocked residents of the typically quiet community.

“Quiet, safe, and friendly. Everybody is friendly. I don’t — I’m shocked, I don’t even know what to say,” Melody Walls said.

“I was pretty shocked. I mean, this is a small little community and we’re all really close, so it just shocked me,” Jill Schuessler said.
