SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. — A Canadian man visiting Wisconsin on a golf trip was shot and killed overnight in downtown Sheboygan Falls, according to his family.

Giovanni Michael Robinson, who went by Mike, was found by police around 12:08 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, near Monroe and Water streets in the heart of the small downtown area. Police said he died after succumbing to his injuries despite life-saving efforts from first responders.

Robinson’s brother and sister-in-law, who confirmed his death earlier Wednesday, said he was a new father who had traveled to Wisconsin for a golf trip. His family members are now traveling to Wisconsin seeking answers about what happened to their loved one.

A preliminary investigation into the shooting revealed Robinson was shot by an unknown individual driving a vehicle, although the motive remains unclear. Police said no arrests have been made but provided a brief description of a suspect vehicle, which they described only as a small, dark-colored SUV.

The Sheboygan Falls Police Department said that limited details have been released to maintain the integrity of the ongoing investigation, but further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

The incident has shocked residents of the typically quiet community.

“Quiet, safe, and friendly. Everybody is friendly. I don’t — I’m shocked, I don’t even know what to say,” Melody Walls said.

“I was pretty shocked. I mean, this is a small little community and we’re all really close, so it just shocked me,” Jill Schuessler said.
