KAUKAUNA (NBC 26) — A car crashed at 6:05 a.m. Thursday into a three story multiple unit apartment building in Kaukauna.
The driver of the car was injured and trapped inside. They had to be extricated by fire crews and were transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries, according to a Kaukauna Fire Department press release.
Fire crews arrived on scene to find that a car had driven about 20 feet inside of an apartment building at 137 E. Wisconsin Ave.
Two residents were in the affected apartment and were sleeping at the time of the crash. They did not sustain any injures, but needed assistance by fire crews to safely exit the apartment.
Due to a large amount of damage to the building, a structural engineer was brought in to determine the integrity of the building. The building was deemed safe for all residents to return to their apartments.
The Red Cross is helping the two tenants whose apartment has been affected.
