HOWARD — Walkers got their feet, and paws, moving and grooving for a good cause Saturday morning.
Hundreds of pets, owners and pet lovers attended the seventh annual "Steps for Pets" event in Meadowbrook Park. The 70s-themed event was ran by Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary. The event included a walk, food trucks, music, vinyl record painting and a pie-eating contest.
Marcus Reitz, branding and development director at Happily Ever After Animal Sanctuary, said events like this help raise awareness and funds for the animals.
"Events like this...they're really important for us...and bringing our adoptive family and the community as a family together," Reitz said.
All proceeds from the event go toward food, medical and housing expenses for the animals at the sanctuary.
