Wisconsin reports less than 2,000 COVID-19 cases, 10 deaths

WISCONSIN (NBC 26) — Wisconsin health officials reported 1,905 out of 8,293 COVID-19 tests returned positive New Year's Day.

According to the state Department of Health Services (DHS), the seven-day average for positive cases by person is 30.2% as of Thursday's numbers, continuing an upward trend. This percentage only includes each person once across the duration of the pandemic, no matter how many times an individual gets tested.

The DHS said an estimated 27,644 cases are active across Wisconsin.

Another 10 deaths were recorded for a total of 4,869 people to have died in relation to coronavirus.

Hospitalizations increased by 50, bringing the state total to 21,400 people to ever be hospitalized with the virus.
