The Green Bay Metro Fire Department responded to a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash Wednesday evening that left the driver dead and two pedestrians injured after the vehicle entered a retention pond.
The incident was reported at approximately 5:55 p.m. As units responded, they received preliminary reports that a vehicle had struck pedestrians and entered a local retention pond.
Upon arrival, Green Bay Metro Fire Department personnel immediately administered emergency medical care to the two pedestrians who had been struck. Due to the scope of the incident and the number of patients, crews requested additional units and the Brown County Sheriff's Office Dive Team.
While personnel treated the injured pedestrians, additional crews initiated water operations to locate the submerged vehicle and driver. Glenn's Towing arrived on scene to assist in securing and removing the vehicle, which was recovered from the pond following the arrival of the Brown County Sheriff's Office Dive Team.
Despite life-saving efforts by all responders, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. One pedestrian was transported to a local hospital. The second pedestrian was treated and released at the scene.
