DE PERE, Wis. — With a truck full of toys, plenty of Holiday cheer, and a little help from Santa Claus, the De Pere Fire Department is able to give out gifts and get back a present just as sweet this Holiday season.
"It's just all about bringing a smile to a kids face, to a family, during this special time of year," firefighter Tom Nelson said.
This is the fire department's second year doing this. They've collected donations and now get the payoff.
"We look forward to this day," Nelson said.
It's a chance to reach out to kids and families who may have fallen on hard times.
"We're part of this community, we work here, but we live here," Nelson said. "We're just trying to give back to the community."
They do it one present, one child, and one family at a time.
