Two Wisconsin National Guard UH-60 Black Hawk helicopers and crews have been sent to the U.S. Virgin Islands to help in the aftermath of multiple hurricanes.

About 19 soldiers are assisting in response to an Emergency Management Assistance Compact request from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The crews were sent from units based in Madison and West Bend. They will provide aerial medevac help, the Wisconsin National Guard said.

Wisconsin National Guard troops have already been serving in Puerto Rico since early October.

650 Wisconsin National Guard troops also recently returned from Florida to help with humanitarian relief, security and traffic control support after Hurricane Irma.
