NEENAH (NBC 26) -- Red Door Mercantile is located in the heart of downtown Neenah. The shop offers local art and specialty gifts to treat yourself or a loved one.
Mother's Day is this weekend and for many it will be spent celebrating virtually or planning to honor the day in the future, but there is still a way to treat your mom this year.
The owner of Red Door Mercantile, Tina Palmer, says she has had to think outside the box when it comes to connecting with her customers and operating her business.
She started posting to her Facebook and Instagram what she calls as "Virtual Shopping Posts." The videos include an overview of something fun in her shop, it could be a corner, something decorated or something she simply likes and wants to share.
People can then comment on the video, message, call or email her if you see something you like and want to purchase. She says she understands that everyone has a different level of comfort and wants everyone to feel safe and comfortable while supporting her small business. So she also started what she calls her "Back Door No Contact Pick Up." How it works is once you've paid for your items she just asks that you communicate when you can come to pick it up. You will then park in back of the store and she will place your purchase on one of her red adirondack chairs in the back of the store. She'll head inside and then you can safely pick up your purchase from the chair.
She has several unique gift ideas for mom to make her feel special this weekend and every day of the year.
