Friday was another day of severe weather across Northeast Wisconsin. Morning thunderstorms produced hail, high winds, and heavy rain. Many locations picked up 4 to 6 inches of rain or more, resulting in some flooding across the area. We need the rain but in many cases, it was too much of a good thing.
The frontal boundary that has been producing on-and-off thunderstorms throughout the week will drop south for the holiday weekend. Although there will still be a slight chance for an isolated shower or sprinkle on Saturday, it should be mainly dry.
High pressure building in from Canada will bring a mixture of clouds and sunshine, along with gusty winds, on Saturday. Highs will be seasonable, mainly in the mid to upper 70s.
On Sunday and Labor Day, high pressure will be firmly in control, bringing mostly sunny skies. Temperatures on both days will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s—a great way to wrap up summer and move into fall...unofficially.
