NBC 26 Weather Forecast - December 14, 2021

Wednesday will be one for the record books. We could potentially climb to near or exceed 60 degrees late Wednesday night with a gusty southwest wind. This would be the latest we've recorded a 60 degree temperature in December if it so does happen. The all-time record high for December is 64° set back in 2001....we will be close!!

The reason for this is due to a strong area of low pressure. We won't last in the 60s for long because a cold front will move through early Thursday. Showers and isolated thunderstorms will accompany it. Winds may gust up to 60mph, which could cause some power outages.

Also, the rapid melting of snow and rain on top, may create localized minor flooding. Homes near rivers may also see the water rise from ice jams. Melting ice chunks that float down the river could jam in bends, creating a jam and rising water behind it.

The high on Thursday will be in the early hours well before sunrise. Temperatures will crash through the morning hours with afternoon readings in the mid/upper 30s.

There will be a chance of some light snow Friday evening or early Saturday.
