The departure of Linc Darner from UWBGB suprised both fans and players.
"I really didn't know, it shocked me the first couple of days. For me, he meant a lot. For a lot of kids in my class he put in a lot of time and effort and really took the time to develop us into young men," senior guard, PJ Pipes said.
The Phoenix hired Will Ryan, the son of a Wisconsin Badgers coaching legend to lead the team in their next chapter.
"It was kind of surprising. I didn't know it was Bo Ryan's son. That's actually very surprising, definitely comes from a huge basketball background. Its kind of exciting for me to get through the process and know who our head coach is going to be and start building that relationship," Pipes said.
The connection between a coach and his point guard is always important and both are eager to tips things off for next season.
"That conversation just getting to know each other and he seems really excited especially since he gets to come back home," Pipes said.
