40 years is a long time to wait but it looks like the wait is finally over for Jerry Kramer.
After 11 finalist nominees, the Packers legend was one of eight members selected to the class of 2018 Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday night.
The 82-year-old spent 11 seasons with the Packers playing right guard and even doing some place kicking where he helped Green Bay win five World Championships and two Super Bowls.
"In the old days when the quarterbacks called their own plays, since most of them were right-handed, they called most of the plays to the right," fellow Packers Hall of Famer Dave Robinson said. "So the defense would put their best men on that half of the field. Therefore, Jerry Kramer, as a right guard, played against the best defensive tackle every week. He still made All-Pro five times. Jerry was a phenomenal guard."
Joining Kramer in this years class are Ray Lewis, Randy Moss and Brian Urlacher (all first year nominees) plus Terrell Owens, Brian Dawkins, Bobby Beathard and Robert Brazile.
The Hall of Fame enshrinement ceremony will be August 4th in Canton, OH.
