MILWAUKEE — Move over basketball, Fiserv Forum will now be adding professional hockey to its entertainment events. The arena will host a National Hockey League match-up between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Minnesota Wild on Oct. 2
"Home Away from Home" series is the first NHL game in Milwaukee since 1993.
Tickets go on sale to the public this Friday, Aug. 5, beginning at 10 a.m. central time at ticketmaster.com. Tickets are as low as $15. The preseason match-up starts at 6:30 p.m.
Pregame celebrations, including Blackhawks celebrity appearances, live music, photo opportunities and more, will be held on the Deer District plaza at 3 p.m. Doors to Fiserv Forum will open to ticketed fans at 5 p.m.
This will also be the first time the Blackhawks have played in Milwaukee since Dec. 1, 1992, when they played the Los Angeles Kings at the Bradley Center.
The Bradley Center hosted NHL preseason and regular season games annually between 1988-93.
The Blackhawks are the closest professional hockey team to Milwaukee. The team plays at the United Center in Chicago.
Fiserv Forum is capable of hosting sporting events besides the Bucks and Marquette University men's basketball games. Fiserv Forum hosted the first round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament March 18-20. Both Fiserv Forum and Deer District saw record revenue for March Madness. The event brought in an economic impact of $6.5 million.
“We are excited to host the first NHL game at Fiserv Forum and welcome the return of NHL hockey to Milwaukee for the first time since 1993,” said Bucks and Fiserv Forum President Peter Feigin in a statement. “We look forward to hosting the Blackhawks and Wild as we continue to bring a variety of dynamic events to Fiserv Forum.”
“We are excited to bring the Blackhawks experience to our fans out of Chicago, and we can’t think of a better place to start than our incredible neighbors to the north,” said Jaime Faulkner, President of Business Operations at Chicago Blackhawks, in the statement. “We’re hard at work designing a gameday fans won’t want to miss as the first NHL team to bring a game to Fiserv Forum in partnership with the Milwaukee Bucks and BMO.”
