Members of the 2018 state-champion winning Luxemburg-Casco wrestling team stopped by NBC26 on Wednesday to talk about their latest title.

The Spartans won their 12th WIAA Team State Wrestling championship after beating Ellsworth, 30-28 on March 3.

"It means a lot to our community and our program in general that we're continuing this tradition," Luxemburg-Casco head coach Chas Treml said. Treml was a member of two Spartans State Championship teams in the 1990's. "Friends of mine, they've been brought up in it and now we're starting to see some of their kids come through the program as well so being a part of that, it's great."

Last year, Luxemburg-Casco lost to Ellsworth in the championship by one point. This year, the Spartans were trailing by two points entering the final bout when Devan VandenBush won a major decision and secured the title.

"I knew I needed to win, I had wrestled the kid before," VandenBush said. "I felt confident. I felt like we were going to win."
