Traffic stop leads to drug bust in Racine County

RACINE COUNTY (WTMJ) - A 28-year-old Milwaukee woman and 36-year-old Chicago man are in custody after a drug bust in Racine County on Friday.

A Racine County Sheriff's Office Deputy was monitoring traffic violations on I-41 northbound at State Highway 20 when he saw someone speeding.

According to officials, the deputy saw a car going 81 miles per hour in a 60 mile per hour construction zone where workers were present.

A traffic stop was initiated and while speaking with the occupants the deputy smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

The female driver and male passenger were removed from the vehicle.

Deputies say a search of the car and it's occupants resulted in finding 122.5 grams of heroin mixed with fentanyl and the woman had 7.1 grams of marijuana on her.

Both the man and woman were taken into custody and transported to the Racine County Jail.

The woman is charged with felony possession with intent to deliver heroin (>50 grams), possession of marijuana and obstructing for proving a fake name.
She was also issued a speeding citation and operating with a valid driver's license citation. She is being held on $50,400 bond.

The man is charged with felony possession with intent to deliver heroin (>50 grams) as a repeat drug offender and possession of marijuana as a repeat drug offender.
He is being held on $55,000 bond.
