Wisconsin health officials provided an update on the flu and coronavirus on Thursday.

There's been a second pediatric flu death in Wisconsin, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) said in a phone conference. That brings the total number to two this year. The victim is from the southern part of Wisconsin.

There were 100 new hospitalizations due to flu in Wisconsin reported as of noon Thursday. By the end of this week, there will be more than 500 hospitalizations due to flu for the season so far, including the more than 100 reported Thursday.

As for the coronavirus, Wisconsin DHS says there are no new patients under investigation. The one patient who tested positive in Dane County remains isolated at home and is doing well.

There is no set time frame for when a patient under investigation can be released from isolation. Local health departments work with each case individually.
