Shawano County deputies are investigating a series of break-ins and thefts from area laundromats.

On October 17, a man entered the John's One Stop laundromat on STH 47/55 just before 1:30 p.m. and forced entry into a video machine before taking a substantial amount of money, deputies said.

This follows several other incidents at laundromats in Wittenberg, Cecil and Shawano. There have also been reports of similar crimes in surrounding areas, according to deputies.

Deputies have video showing a lone man and vehicle that are of interest in the case.

He appears to be a white man wearing a brown/tan hooded sweatshirt, deputies said. The vehicle is a teal or off-green two door.

The man was seen going into John's One Stop and plugging in a phone, deputies said. His face is visible as we walks by a surveillance camera, but he then left the store and came back with his face partially covered, according to the sheriff's office.

He forced his way into the video machine, steals money and leaves, the video showed. He later came back for his phone.

If you have any information about this theft or other thefts, contact Detective Sergeant Gordon Kowaleski at (715) 526-7906 or the sheriff's office at (715) 526-3111.
