This holiday season, NBC26's parent company is giving back.
The Scripps Howard Foundation donated four $2,000 checks Wednesday to four different Northeast Wisconsin organizations. All that money will stay right here in our area.
The following groups received donations:
- Boy Scouts of America Bay-Lakes Council
- Salvation Army of Green Bay
- Service League of Green Bay
- Desert Veterans of Wisconsin
For the Boy Scouts of America Bay-Lakes Council, $2,000 is a chance to let more kids experience scouting.
"We change lives through the scouting program, whether it be Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing, Exploring," said Jason Wolf, Bay-Lakes Council Scout Director.
The Salvation Army of Green Bay will use the money to help with year-round programming.
"The Salvation Army provides programming 24/7 actually," said Robert Mueller. "We have a transitional housing program where we house 20 families year round."
A check for the Service League of Green Bay will also go towards helping children.
"It makes a big impact on kids in the community," explained Anna Burnette.
And the Desert Veterans of Wisconsin said they'll continue to be able to help veterans any way they can.
"We help individual vets with mortgages, with rent, with car payments, with keeping the lights on, any sort of hard times they come under, we help them out," said Andy Bussiere.
