The Green Bay Police Department is investigating a scam where two men have claimed to be utility workers to steal cash and jewelry from homes.

According to police, two men claim to be from a utility, such as the water department or Wisconsin Public Service, and tell residents they need to check their home.

The two seem to be targeting elderly people who are home alone, police said.

While one man distracts the victim, the other goes through the house and steals items like safes, cash and jewelry, police explained.

The suspects are male with darker skin and sometimes have an accent, according to police. They are not wearing clothes with a company logo.

The scams are happening during the week between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., police said.

Police are encouraging neighbors to be aware of what is going on in your neighborhood. If you have any information about these scams, contact Green Bay Police.
