School officials in Sheboygan are contacting families after a rumor spread on social media about an active shooter incident at Sheboygan South High School.
Administrators told police they prevented a student from leaving school Tuesday which prompted the social media speculation.
The post claimed there was the possibility of a threat.
Police said they are working to dispel the rumor.
