Police officers are helping people stay warm this season and getting to know the people they serve in the process.
The Oneida Police Department held a Christmas blanket making event today, where officers helped make tie-blankets with community members as well as officers from other departments.
Oneida Police say they have a lot of new officers, so it's a good way to introduce themselves.
"I do a lot of things with the community and one of the things that the community wants is to know our police officers so this is an opportunity for our community to go ahead and do that," said Latsi Hill, Oneida Police Department.
The blankets will go to domestic violence victims, homeless shelters and whoever needs them in the community.
