A scary situation has caused alarm for parents in Neenah after Halloween trick-or-treating.
On Tuesday evening, around 7 p.m., Neenah Police responded to the 400 block of S. Lake Street. A mother told officers she found nails in her 11-year-old son's Halloween candy.
Three nails were found in three pieces of Kit Kat candy bars while the mother was inspecting the candy. The bars were turned over to officers, who submitted them to the crime lab for further testing.
The child was trick-or-treating in the area of Main Street and S. Lake Street, police said. So far, this was the only incident of this kind reported, according to officers.
Police are encouraging everyone to continue to check on all candy collected during trick-or-treating.
