SUAMICO -- Over a dozen people came out on a cloudy day at the New Zoo and Adventure park to go down the zipline with a first responder. It is designed to honor the many people in Northeast Wisconsin who sacrifice so much to help the people in this State.
"We wanted to give the first responders a chance to come out and have some fun and do something that they are not normally doing," said Nathaniel Wagner, the pack supervisor.
For $12, people strapped into a harness and rode down the 1000 foot line with either a police officer, paramedic or firefighter. The money raised will go towards maintaining the park, but the goal of the event was to create transparency between authorities and the public.
"We really want to spend time in the community and with the kids," said Jeremy Ebner with the Suamico Fire Department. "We are going to see you on your worst day, so this helps us remind them we are a community member too."
This is the first time the park is doing an event like this. They hope to continue it in years to come.
