DOOR CO. (NBC 26) -- The Boys & Girls Club of Door County announced the creation of a Weekend Meal Program to help feed their local community starting Friday from 3 P.M. to 5 P.M.then again on May 15 with times to be determined.
This new program is in partnership with the Door Co. Meals Cooperation and is in response to a local need. According to the organizations, the Weekend Meal Program is available for anyone in need of meals for over the weekend.
Door Co. Meal Cooperative says last week it provided 2,873 weekday meals to children and adults. Organizers are able to continue to serve these needs because of the strong community of donors, volunteers, and partners contributing.
The Boys & Girls Club of Door Co. says it serves over 500 area children annually by providing meals, educational supports, basic needs, and more throughout the year.
Door Co. Meal Cooperative is hosting the meal pick-ups at several of their locations:
- Southern Door High School (door #9)
- Corpus Christi Catholic Parish (west maple door #2)
- Door Co. YMCA
- Sevastopol High
- Algoma Community Wellness Center
- Gibraltar Fire Department
Family meal kits include soup, bread, fruit, peanut butter, and more.
