Suspect accused of hitting woman with vehicle after burglarizing her garage

CALUMET COUNTY, Wis. — A suspect hit a woman with his vehicle after burglarizing her garage, according to the Calumet County Sheriff's Office.

Around 3:30 a.m. Monday, the Calumet County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that a woman had been struck by a vehicle in the 5600 block of Irish road in the Town of Rantoul. The Sheriff's Office says the 34-year-old woman had confronted the suspect she had found in her garage.

The Sheriff's Office believes the suspect had parked on the road and then entered the woman's garage. When the woman confronted the suspect, the Sheriff's Office says he drove off, hitting the woman. The woman had critical injuries and was flown to Theda Clark hospital in Neenah.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the suspect's vehicle was found about a mile away in a ditch. The suspect was arrested and taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The suspect is now at the Calumet County jail. The Sheriff's Office says charges of OWI causing injury as well as Burglary will be forwarded to the Calumet County DA s office.
