The Manitowoc Mayor says the federal government shutdown threatens the start of the season for the S.S. Badger ferry.
The mayor says they're waiting on a federal grant to be processed so they can repair the docks.
The ferry from Manitowoc to Michigan is scheduled to start in May. The S.S. Badger is the last coal-fired passenger steamship still operating in the U.S.
