FOND DU LAC, Wis. — Fond du Lac fire and rescue says a citizen's quick actions saved children from drowning on Sunday morning.
Rescuers got a report of two children that fell through the ice of a nearby pond and were trapped in the water on 14th Street and Martin Road.
Dispatch notified responding officers that a citizen driving by had stopped and was in the water, working on getting the children out.
When rescuers arrived, the kids had been taken out of the water.
The children and rescuer all received medical attention, but nobody went to the hospital.
Rescuers say if the citizen wasn't passing by at the moment the kids went into the pool that it could have been a different outcome.
