No arrests following the deaths of two Kaukauna children

KAUKAUNA, Wis — KAUKAUNA, Wis (NBC 26) -- Today marks day three of the investigation into the deaths of two Kaukauna children, and police say as of Tuesday, there have not been any arrests.

On Monday morning 5-year-old William Beyer and 3-year-old Danielle Beyer were found in a home with what police call “intentional injuries." Tonight the Kaukauna community continues to have a difficult time with this tragedy.

The unknowns related to what happened off of Crooks Avenue in Kaukauna, has taken this community by storm.

"I've lived here, I grew up here, I was born here and I was shocked. And then I was even more shocked to hear it was two little kids," says Shelli Fox a mother of two in Kaukauna.

The news that 3-year-old Danielle Beyer and 5-year-old William Beyer were found dead off of the 1200 block of Crooks Avenue has forced many parents, to have very uncomfortable conversations with their own children. Jason Tucker's daughter was a classmate of William Beyer and he says the tragedy has been tough on many.

"She's in the classroom with that boy so I felt horrible and I feel bad even for the teacher and staff. You're attached to these kids. When you're a teacher and you're seeing them every day, it's like one of your own."

And while the community waits for answers, the Kaukauna Police are searching for them. The Department of Justice on Wednesday assisting Kaukauna investigators as authorities have not made an arrest as of yet.

"I am glad that they are dotting their i's and crossing their t's. I think police departments are under a lot of scrutiny with the way they handle these things. I am glad they are really taking their time gathering all the information and investigating," adds Fox.

For now, while the deaths of two children dominate the conversations in Kaukauna, not everyone is jumping to conclusions.

"Stories can get out of line and we don't know all the facts yet," says Tucker.

And those who live here say, this case has served as a reminder to many parents, to cherish what you have.

"You just hug them a bit tighter. You just really appreciate the moments," says Fox.

Police said that the community is not in any kind of danger on the account of the incident. They add that both of the children's parents have already been interviewed by police.
