Missouri fugitive found in Sturgeon Bay in custody

STURGEON BAY, Wis. — The Sturgeon Bay Police Department says on Friday, officers searched for a fugitive man out of Missouri, with a nationwide arrest warrant, who was possibly living in Sturgeon Bay.

Police say the suspect was cautioned as possibly armed and dangerous with violent tendencies.

Officers say they found the man exiting a local business. They tried making contact with him and he attempted to run from them. Police then tried to control him physically and he resisted.

Multiple officers tried to take the man into custody. They say he then began to fight with them and tried reaching for his waistband, in which they later found a knife.

Police then tasered the suspect and eventually took him into custody.

Officers say the suspect received minor injuries and was medically cleared at the hospital before he was transported to the Door County Jail. No officers were injured in the incident.

Police say the man was also in possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The police department is releasing no further information at this time.
