MENASHA (NBC 26) - Several officers were on scene of a physical altercation between many people in Menasha Sunday afternoon. The 100 block of Madison Street was blocked off for more than 5 hours.

When police arrived, they said a 45-year-old man barricaded himself in a recreational vehicle. Officers say the man continued being physically and verbally aggressive when they were trying to talk with him.

During the discussions, Menasha police said the man in the trailer opened the valve to a propane tank inside the RV. Officers then broke windows to keep fresh air within the vehicle.

Several other agencies were called in to help. The man finally surrendered after several hours, around 7:30 p.m. He was taken to a local medical facility for evaluation.

Menasha police say they’ll continue with an investigation to decide if any criminal charges will be pressed. They add the man also has an outstanding arrest warrant.
