DE PERE (NBC26) - A local group is celebrating the Packers game early!

“I still take the Packers to win Sunday, but they’re going to get beat up,” Theresa Jadin, a Packers fan, said with a smile on her face.

Thursday, as part of the Brown County Memory Café, they hosted a tailgate party ahead of Sunday’s matchup against San Francisco.

The café is for people with early stage memory loss and their friends to join others on the same journey, and engage, talk and have fun.

Thursday afternoon at the Kress Family Branch Library, most people who attended were decked out in green and gold; all while sharing some of their favorite Packers’ memories.

“I can’t remember just one, but we had a lot of good times,” said 92-year-old Grace Crab of De Pere. “Packer Sunday was a big thing.”

“The first Super Bowl back in the ‘60’s, when we went to the Super Bowl, I was just watching it on TV. I never went to a game back then. But it was so exciting and so much fun, and I thought if they ever go again when I’m old enough, I’ll go,” said 74-year-old Betty Meindl of Green Bay. “So I waited 30 some years and went in 1996.”

Memory cafesare held at different locations throughout the month. Thursday’s café tailgated in style with green and gold treats and a few rounds of bean bag toss.
