Local pottery maker breaks Guinness World Record

NEENAH, Wis. (NBC26) -- Sunset Hill Stoneware is a production pottery company based in Neenah. The company produces roughly 1,500 coffee mugs, steins and kitchenware pieces per day. The small business has 49 employees that make the pottery by hand.

One of those employees is Mike Weber. He is a native of the Fox Valley and has been with Sunset Hill Stoneware for the past five years. He handcrafts hundreds of mugs, steins, crocks and other pieces of functional pottery every day.

Weber is one of the most experienced artisans on the team who can create all the pieces Sunset Hill Stoneware offers. He has even used his skills as a potter to make trophies and other awards outside of Sunset Hill Stoneware.

Weber attempted to break the Guinness World Record for most pots thrown by an individual in one hour on Thursday. The current record is 193 pots thrown.

Mike Weber was able to shatter the record for most pots thrown coming in with a total of 212! Sunset Hill Stoneware will submit the record to have it made official by the Guinness World Record.
