BELLEVUE, Wis. — Going to the dentist, it's something we're told to do on a regular basis.
For some people, though, the price outweighs the need.
Saturday, local dentists did something about that by hosting fourth annual Dentistry from the Heart event.
"I just had a toothache, so I just thought I'd come in today and take a look and have it taken care of," said James Skor who told us it's been nearly a year since he was last at the dentist.
When he found out about Dentistry from the Heart, he decided to come by to get a cavity filled.
On a first come first serve basis, Skor said he waited three hours, fighting tooth and nail.
"We open our office to the public to get free dental care for patients without insurance or without a means," said Candace Rabas, the event coordinator.
Rabas said 12 local dentists volunteered their time to make a difference in people's lives.
"We're doing cleanings, fillings, and extractions," said Rabas.
Skor, with his mouth already numb, told us he's grateful for the local dentists, assistants, and hygienists volunteering.
"Just to help the needy people that can't really afford dental right away. It's really important that we put on a program like this," said Skor.
