CITY OF MANITOWOC (NBC 26) -- The City of Manitowoc announced their plans for their leaf pick-up schedule, which has changed due to the week's winter weather.

The Department of Public Infrastructure said they were unable to complete any normally scheduled leaf pick-ups because of the need for snow and ice control preparations as well as operations this past week.

They are looking ahead to next week's forecast and plan a full week of leaf pick-up beginning Monday at 6 a.m. and continue to their original end date of November 22nd. The Department has the goal of providing at least one more pick-up for each resident by that end date.

According to the City's website, there are several rules that must be followed with leaf pick-up. Leaves should be placed in the parking lane on your street the evening before your street's sweeping day, to keep leaves out of storm drains to prevent leaf litter into waterways and lakes, and also a reminder that brush and garden waste will not be picked up

If you have brush and garden waste, the City directs people to either take it to one of the Manitowoc County compost sites or contract a private hauler.
