GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC 26) -
Note: NBC 26’s Jon Erickson, who prepared this report, volunteers with Junior Achievement of the Greater Green Bay Area.
The area director of Junior Achievement of the Greater Green Bay Area hopes the organization’s participation in Give Big Green Bay this year not only leads to donations, but volunteers.
“We actually go into school, K-12, to talk with kids about financial literacy, career readiness, and entrepreneurship,” Adam Sutter, area director for Junior Achievement of the Greater Green Bay Area, said of the organization.
Give Big Green Bay is a 24-hour online event, during which donors can contribute to local non-profit groups.
Sutter's hope is the spotlight from the 24-hour event will lead to 24 more Junior Achievement volunteers.
"A lot of people assume that it's business volunteers, that's not necessarily the case,” said Sutter.
“[W]e look for volunteers from all walks of life, because the kids need mentors or role models from lots of different careers, lots of different job types."
