FOND DU LAC (NBC 26) -- City of Fond du Lac Fire / Rescue responded to a fire at the Portland Square Apartments just before 6 p.m. Saturday.
The fire department says they received a call about smoke on the second floor. When they arrived at the apartment complex they found a fire on the third floor in apartment 322.
According to the department's report they were able to put out the fire quickly. They say the fire was contained to the apartment's living room.
Apartment 322 is said to have significant fire and smoke damage. Adjacent apartments only have minor damage.
Everyone in the apartment building was able to evacuate safely. The apartment's occupant was not home at the time of the fire. No one was hurt.
The American Red Cross was called to help the one displaced apartment occupant. Fire Investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
