DOOR CO. (NBC 26) -- Door County officials are encouraging tourists not to visit their county for the next 30 days due to coronavirus.
Door Co. declared a public health emergency on March 16.
The County is asking lodging businesses to not accept new reservations and cancel those that exist to encourage people to temporarily not travel to the area.
"The sooner we address this issue in Door County, the sooner we can get back to welcoming guests to our peninsula again," reads a statement from the County.
Door Co. officials hopes limiting tourists will decrease the demands placed on local hospitals, emergency personnel, nurses and doctors.
