On Monday in Manitowoc, less than 24 hours worth of snow sure did add up quick.
"It's actually amounting to more. I think we're at about the 12-16 inch mark along the lake. I think the lake just keeps finding the system," says John Sullivan as he digs out his mailbox.
But folks in Manitowoc, are used to getting hit a bit harder than their neighbors to the west.
"It's light and fluffy luckily. So it ain't too bad to shovel out if you're still halfway young like me," adds Eric Hoffmann who is also digging out his driveway.
Fortunately, a good attitude goes a long way when dealing with winters like this. But that's not to downplay the seriousness of this latest storm.
"Here in Manitowoc county we've had several vehicles in the ditch. We've had a couple of semi crashes and one actually involved a snow plow," explains Sgt. Dan Diedrich of the Wisconsin State Patrol.
Wisconsin's State Patrol says there were over 130 instances of motorists needing their help on Monday, for things like crashes, cars getting stuck and vehicles ending up in the ditch.
"In this kind of weather you're not looking for 70 miles per hour, you're looking to travel at a speed that you can keep the vehicle under control and you can avoid any hazards as you come upon them," adds Sgt. Diedrich.
And as neighborhoods across town put the last touches on their cleanup, they know they're not out of the winter woods yet.
"Kind of a pain to dig out of but it's Wisconsin so," says Hoffmann with a smile.
Most here are well aware that with a foot or more of light fluffy snow hanging out across the county, that the roads will need to be traveled with a bit more caution in the days to come.
"If you have four wheel or all wheel drive it's not the worst, but you definitely have to slow down."
